Clacton Pier wins high praise from Travel and Tour World for role in seaside resort’s revival

Clacton Pier has been singled out by tourism journal Travel and Tour World for its “pivotal” role in boosting visitation to the seaside, with the 155-year-old attraction praised for its variety of rides, family-friendly appeal, and ongoing investment.

Clacton Pier has been singled out by Travel and Tour World for “redefining UK seaside tourism,” thanks to its continued focus on family friendly fun and its dedication to modernising the traditional holiday experience.

The global travel publication praised the 155-year-old attraction for its “mix of old-world charm and new-age fun,” placing it alongside Brighton’s Palace Pier as an exemplar of British seaside entertainment.

“It is a significant part of the tourism experience in Clacton-on-Sea, a seaside town that continues to gain recognition as a go-to British holiday spot,” reported TTW. “The pier’s role in bringing people to the area is undeniable, especially since it is home to several family-friendly rides, classic arcade machines, and even a 4D cinema experience.”

“Clacton’s revitalisation efforts, which include improvements to the pier and surrounding beachfront areas, have been pivotal in its growing appeal as a seaside destination.”

Welcoming the report, Clacton Pier GM Harry Peek said: “In so many ways it justifies all the time, effort and money that Billy and Elliot Ball have put in over the past 17 years of their ownership to get our 155-year-old attraction truly on the global map.”

“We have received many accolades in recent times, including being placed in the top 20 amusement parks in Europe by TripAdvisor, and that is extremely important to us. This latest accolade from Travel and Tour World is extremely welcome and has come at the perfect time as we head into the main season. It is a major world travel publication with a readership of more than 15 million.”
