A new agreement between three key industry trade associations has formalised long-standing cooperation, supporting responsible use of gaming machines in pubs and strengthening joint engagement with government and regulators.
The Gambling Business Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the British Beer & Pub Association (BBPA) and UKHospitality.
The agreement promotes cooperation and mutual understanding between the three organisations on gaming machine matters for pubs.
The MoU also provides a framework for the GBG and its Pub Operators Group to progress projects and activities, supported by regular meetings with the BBPA and UKHospitality.
“We are delighted to have signed this MoU with the BBPA and UKH,” commented GBG General Manager Charlotte Meller. “We have had good working relationships with both organisations for many years, but this sets out how we will collaborate and support each other when engaging with government and local and national regulators on gaming machine activities in pubs.”
The BBPA and UKHospitality released a joint statement acknowledging the partnership, with the two trade bodies ready to work with GBG to ensure that revenue streams from gaming machines – and the pubs that rely on it – are protected.
“BBPA and UKHospitality look forward to working alongside the GBG in support of our pub-operating members,” read the statement. “The MoU recognises the importance of gaming machine income for pubs across the sector, and how this can be protected in a socially responsible way. This agreement reinforces the benefit from working collaboratively together when making our case to Government and local authorities.”
