Game Nation has certainly thrown its weight behind its partnership with the CHIPS Charity. The company has followed-up October’s presentation to Hampshire youngster Alfie in double quick time handing-over a powered chair to 12-year-old Leah from Barnet using its flagship Chinatown venue as the backdrop.
12-year-old Leah Morris was given the freedom of the pedestrianised Gerrard Street in London’s famous Chinatown when she took charge of her bespoke CHIPS powered wheelchair courtesy of the fundraising efforts of Game Nation, the progressive high street gaming operator.
Leah, who lives with her two younger siblings in Barnet, made the short journey to central London to be presented with her chair by the team at Game Nation which was making its second presentation within just six-months of it adopting CHIPS as its charity partner.
The CHIPS chair will transform the life of the bubbly 12-year-old as CHIPs co-founder Linda Lindsay confirmed. “Leah has achondroplasis, a condition that makes completing the daily activities that we all take for granted hugely challenging.
“Up until now Leah has required an attendant to push her around school in her manual chair which really undermines her independence. Thanks to Game Nation Leah’s powered chair changes all of that. It’s been designed specifically for her needs and will give her the ability to get to and from lessons alongside her friends and peers.”
She added: “In the close to 800 presentations that CHIPS has made I don’t think I’ve ever seen a young person quite so happy and so incredibly excited at receiving their powered chair!”
Game Nation HR Director Julie Redfern added: “It was such a delight to meet Leah and her family at our flagship venue in Chinatown. CHIPS has touched the hearts of every single person at every one of our Game Nation venues including of course our wonderful customers who have contributed so generously to our various fundraising initiatives and activities.
“One of the many great things about partnering with CHIPS is the flexibility it offers to link presentations and recipients to our venues. Our first presentation to Hampshire 11-year-old Alfie was held in Southampton and obviously Leah is from Barnet, north London. Having that focus and connection really resonates with our Game Nation team colleagues and deepens the relationship we enjoy with Linda and the CHIPS organisation even further.
“Everyone at Game Nation is rightly proud of what’s been achieved and are firmly focussed on developing and participating in the activities we have planned for the year ahead.”
Oh happy day
