Base Arcade Belfast reschedules gaming event in response to civil unrest

Base Arcade Belfast rescheduled a planned gaming event at its Banana Block venue last weekend, following concerns over civil unrest in the city.

The “epic weekend of classic arcade and pinball antics” will now take place between 3 and 5 July, with all pre-booked tickets automatically transferred.

“The things we can control are ready,” said co-owners David Hughes and Stephen Currie. “The machines are prepared, the competitions are organised, and the event itself was set to go. What we can’t control is the ongoing uncertainty across Belfast.”

“Between travel disruption, venue and business closures, and the unpredictability of the situation from day to day, it’s become increasingly difficult to plan with confidence. While we genuinely wanted to make this weekend happen, it’s become clear that moving forward would involve too many unknowns.”

Currie and Hughes added that July is traditionally their “summer break,” but said “we felt we owed it to you all to find an alternative rather than simply pull the plug.”

“We simply want to do what we do best and deliver a fantastic arcade weekend for everyone. We believe rescheduling gives us the best chance to do that with confidence and optimism, rather than trying to navigate so much uncertainty.”
