From Southampton to Soho: Game Nation customers sport stubble and fake facial hair in celebration of World Beard Day

The Game Nation team is clearly ‘bristling’ with creativity launching a quirky celebration of World Beard Day across all of its venues. The initiative captured the imagination and gave venue teams another opportunity to engage with their customers and showcase what the Game Nation experience is all about.

Game Nation joined the celebrations in honour of World Beard Day, the global event held every September.

To mark the big day the first ten ‘bearded’ customers to visit each Game Nation venue were provided with £10 free play – and there was no shortage of participants with hundreds of customers coming through the doors from Southampton to Soho.

Operations Director Eric Howell takes-up the story: “If ever there was a day to have a bit of fun with our customers, then this was it.

“We pre-publicised the promotion giving sufficient time to either grow some Miami Vice style signature stubble, apply some beard balm or acquire some fake facial hair especially for the occasion.

“Each venue had a stock of costume comedy beards so that everyone could participate in the event, have their photos taken and join in the fun.”

He added: “The celebration of beards is believed to date back to 800AD and the Danish Vikings so the Game Nation family was in esteemed company.

“This was all about engaging with our customers and creating the fun and energy that’s such a stand-out feature of the Game Nation experience.

“Our venues in East London were the star performers with Upton Park being crowned Game Nation’s unofficial Beard Capital edging out near neighbours Barking – in fact you could say they won it by a whisker!”
