Funky Monkey  reports revenue rise to £17.6m

Funky Monkey Playcentres Ltd has reported revenue for the year to 31 May 2025 increased by more than £1m to £17.6m, with pre-tax profit also increasing from £1.6m to £1.9m year-on-year.

The Airtastic and Funky Monkey operator, which primarily runs play attractions and family activity centres across Ireland, was able to retain more than £1.5m in profit for the period despite wage bills rising from £5.2m to £5.7m.

“Airtastic, which bills itself as Ireland’s premier indoor leisure and entertainment brand and which caters for adults as well as children, operates from locations in Bangor, Belfast, Craigavon, Lisburn, Cork and Kildare,” reported the Irish News.

“Main activities at Airtastic (which vary by location) include a giant inflatable park with slides, obstacle courses, wipe-out balls and bounce zones; trampoline and Ninja park; tenpin bowling; laser tag; indoor themed mini-golf; soft-play areas and video gaming zones.”

Funky Monkey is joint-owned by directors Alison Simpson, Mark Simpson, and Henry Moore, who operate shareholder funds of £4.8m, while the company employs a total of 400 people, down from 428 in the prior year.

“Funky Monkeys once had ten sites, but its current portfolio has been reduced to six, which include Belfast centres at Cityside and Dundonald.”
