Silvertime Amusements has been granted a licence to operate a 24-hour AGC in Earl’s Court, despite Kensington and Chelsea Council refusing planning permission for the venue in April.
The submission proposed relocating Silvertime’s existing AGC to a former Lloyds Bank premises on Earl’s Court Road, however the plans were dismissed after opposition from local councillors and residents.
“If Silvertime’s planning appeal is successful, the new site would have around 40 machines compared to the 26 in place at the applicant’s current site,” reported MyLondon. “It will also need to have an SIA trained door supervisor on the door at all times the premises is open for gambling.”
“Silvertime will also be required to close down its operation at 169 Earl’s Court Road before gambling takes place at the new premises.”
Speaking on the decision, councillor Linda Wade said “this was a missed opportunity by the borough,” however Silvertime’s legal counsel Andrew Woods said the firm “has operated at its current site for ten years with no issues.”
“The relocation to 177-179 of the busy London road would provide better and more comfortable facilities with additional gambling machines.”
Silvertime Amusements will now lodge its appeal against the planning decision for the venue.
