The land-based industry is preparing to come together for Boomerang Digital’s third Charity Cricket Day. Combining competitive cricket with fundraising, networking and family fun the third edition of the event will see teams from Bacta, Boomerang and The Bingo Association compete for the coveted Boomerang trophy while raising vital funds for nominated charities Little Lifts, Rays of Sunshine, Variety – The Children’s Charity and St Giles Hospice.
Freddie Shreeve, Director of Sales at Boomerang Digital, has described the level of industry support for the company’s third Charity Cricket Day as being ‘absolutely outstanding’.
Taking place Thursday 9 July at the picturesque Walton Cricket Club, Walton-on-Trent, teams representing Bacta, Boomerang and The Bingo Association will be battling it out to lift the trophy which is currently held by Bacta. Proceeds from the day will be shared between three charities which have been chosen by the participating teams. Bacta is supporting Little Lifts and Rays of Sunshine, The Bingo Association has nominated Variety – The Children’s Charity with Boomerang Digital supporting St Giles Hospice.
Previewing the event which will also include a live outdoor screening of the FIFA World Cup Quarter Final from 9:00pm, complemented by food, drinks and evening entertainment, Freddie Shreeve confirmed: “The Boomerang Charity Cricket Day continues to attract a wide range of support and sponsors, which shows just how much it has become part of the industry calendar. Last year’s winning captains, Jeremy and Jordan Godden, are returning to defend the trophy, and while everyone is there to support their nominated charities, there’s most definitely a healthy competitive edge. Several of us still play competitive cricket and spend many weekends on the cricket field, so everyone wants bragging rights for the next 12-months.
“The Godden brothers, are so invested in retaining the trophy that they display it on Teams calls as a reminder of who the current champions are after winning back-to-back titles! Dave Robson and The Bingo Association team would love to win it for the first time, and I feel I have a responsibility to bring it home for Boomerang Digital. Ultimately, while one team will lift the trophy, the real winners are the industry and the charities that benefit from the event. The combination of competitive cricket, fundraising, and industry networking creates a wonderful atmosphere.”
Outlining Boomerang’s hopes for the development of the event he noted: “What started as a charity cricket match has grown into a genuine industry event that brings together operators, suppliers, customers and trade bodies. We are keen to make this a landmark industry event and would encourage Coinslot readers to come along and support the day, even if they are not playing – everybody from across the industry is welcome to attend.”
Paying tribute to the numerous event partners Shreeve stated: “A huge thank you goes to all of our supporters whose generosity helps make the event possible and maximises the amount of money raised for charity. Sponsors will be recognised during the day, across social media live streams, photography/video content, and in the official match day programme. A small number of sponsorship opportunities are still available and we are continuing to welcome raffle prize donations from businesses and individuals. Anyone interested in supporting the event is encouraged to get in touch and contribute to the success of the day.”
