The pride of Clacton: the Ball brothers to open a new luxury holiday park

Clacton Pier owners Billy and Elliot Ball have announced they will open a new luxury holiday park in nearby St Osyth this month, with the Tideaway development providing “a boutique destination that has a distinctly family feel and complements everything already here.”

Billy and Elliot Ball have announced they will open a new luxury holiday park in St Osyth this month, offering visitors to the Essex coast “a boutique destination” from which to explore nearby Clacton.

The brothers have been staunch supporters of the Tendring economy since purchasing Clacton Pier in 2009, with the seven-acre Tideaway development designed to further boost footfall to the area.

“We believe Clacton has enormous potential and we’re proud to continue investing in the area,” said Elliot Ball. “Having spent years welcoming visitors to the pier, we’ve seen how the area has evolved and recognised an opportunity to offer something different.

“The Tideaway isn’t about creating another large holiday park. It’s about providing a boutique destination that has a distinctly family feel and complements everything already here, bringing more people to the area and supporting the wider visitor economy.”

The Tideaway is set within woodland and green space, with a limited number of lodges to encourage “a more exclusive feel,” while allowing the Balls to focus on providing high quality customer service.

“The Tideaway is a new approach to holiday home ownership and coastal getaways from the family behind the award-winning transformation of Clacton Pier,” states the holiday park’s website. “It’s a family business where your comfort and enjoyment is a priority.”

“At The Tideaway, everything you loved about the traditional British seaside is still here – only now, the day ends somewhere quieter, calmer and more thoughtfully designed for modern coastal living.”

The holiday park is intended to capitalise on a growing demand for peaceful retreats by the UK coast, and its location will increase visitation to local businesses, shops, and restaurants, as well as Clacton Pier, which last year welcomed more than one million guests.

“This investment is another vote of confidence in Clacton and the surrounding area,” said Billy Ball. “A key part of the Tideaway’s vision is welcoming back those who spent their childhood holidays in Clacton-on-Sea and giving them the chance to create new memories with their own families.”
