IAAPA has forecast that the UK attractions sector is on course for 60 percent growth over the next year, with the market set to become Europe’s second largest in terms of visitor spend.
Sales across the sector are predicted to rise by 9.8 percent by 2027, while spending by operators and entertainment groups on their parks and attractions will surpass £1bn for the first time.
“Following the disruption of the pandemic, the attractions industry has demonstrated remarkable resilience and adaptability,” said IAAPA president and CEO, Jakob Wahl. “Consumers continue to prioritise experiences, and we’re seeing strong confidence from operators and investors alike.”
“The UK government’s temporary VAT reduction on family attractions this summer is a welcome boost, making it easier for families to enjoy days out and supporting continued footfall across the sector. The growth forecasts for both Europe and the UK reflect an industry that is not simply recovering but evolving and expanding.”
It’s worth noting that the prediction does not take into account the significant boost Universal Studios’ new UK theme park is expected to deliver, estimated at £50bn over the first ten years.
Reporting on the figures, Inpark Magazine wrote that “industry leaders believe the UK is well positioned to remain one of the world’s most dynamic attractions markets for years to come.”
