Bacta and Boomerang sign a landmark self-exclusion data-sharing agreement

The supply and data-sharing agreement between Bacta and Boomerang Digital which was signed Wednesday 20 May has been described as a landmark development that will strengthen self-exclusion undertakings across the land-based gambling sector.

In a major development that will enhance player protection protocols Bacta and Boomerang Digital have signed a landmark supply and data-sharing agreement aimed at strengthening self-exclusion measures across the UK land-based gambling sector.

The agreement marks a strong commitment to responsible gambling and follows an extended period of technical, operational and legal collaboration between Boomerang Digital and the trade association.

Under the terms of this new arrangement, the existing self-exclusion schemes operated by Bacta and Boomerang will be unified, enabling relevant self-exclusion data to be shared between participating venues and operators.

In practical terms, this means that customers who self-exclude at a participating high street bingo venue will also be identifiable within participating Adult Gaming Centres (AGCs), and vice versa. The agreement will create a more effective, robust and joined-up self-exclusion system for consumers across the land-based sector.

The agreement forms part of Bacta’s wider programme of work to enhance player protection standards and support safer gambling initiatives throughout the industry.

Further operational guidance, including implementation timelines, onboarding processes and details on how the unified scheme will work in practice, will follow in due course.

Bacta President Joseph Cullis confirmed: “This agreement marks an important milestone in strengthening self-exclusion arrangements across our sector. By enabling closer cooperation and improved data sharing between our schemes, it will help deliver a more robust and effective approach for customers who choose to self-exclude. It also reflects the significant work undertaken by both Bacta and Boomerang over many months to support higher standards of player protection.”

Underlining his company’s commitment to player protection Boomerang Digital Group Chief Executive Andrew Ludlow, added: “I am delighted to have concluded this important agreement that leverages our decade’s worth of experience in developing robust player protection solutions. Delivering a unified approach to self-exclusions brings consistency to player protection and an appropriate foundation for additional and enhanced player protection tools including facial recognition and TUKI.”
