Staff from Admiral venues in Nottingham volunteered to pick litter across the neighbourhoods of Clifton, Bulwell and Arnold on 24 July, as part of a partnership with Nottingham BID.
The campaign was undertaken alongside Nottingham Clean Champions, and intended to help improve the appearance of the local area, while reinforcing the company’s support for the communities it operates in.
Arrangements for Admiral’s initiative were being finalised when a timely visit to Admiral Clifton by Lilian Greenwood MP introduced Admiral to the Nottingham Clean Champions – the Clifton East and West litter-picking teams already active in the community. That link is particularly valuable as the partnership with Nottingham BID continues to develop.
The event itself was organised by Richard Carr, Regional Operations Manager who arranged the day with Nottingham BID.
“It was a fantastic example of community engagement and teamwork,” said regional operations manager Richard Carr. “We had brilliant weather and some really positive interaction with the public, lots of smiles and words of encouragement from residents who appreciated what we were doing.”
“To collect 15 bags of rubbish across Clifton, Bulwell and Arnold in a single day shows what can be achieved when local teams pull together. I’ve shared the initiative with my regional operations manager colleagues to inspire similar engagement with their own local BIDs.”
This initiative is now being rolled out across Luxury Leisure’s national network, with regional operations director and recent winner of Bacta’s Community Champion award, James Sturgess, adding: “Richard and the team should be really proud of what they achieved in Nottingham, and it’s brilliant that the visit from Lilian Greenwood MP has opened the door to a closer link with the Nottingham Clean Champions. Our venues sit at the heart of high streets up and down the country, and it’s important to us that we’re recognised as putting something back into those communities, not just operating within them. I’d encourage every high street outlet to think about what a partnership with their own BID could look like.”
