The new owners of Blackpool’s North Pier have urged customers to respond to the council’s new Heritage Investment Strategy with suggestions for the pier, in order to demonstrate how important the attraction is to the local community.
The strategy will decide how Blackpool’s landmark buildings, historic spaces and heritage should be protected, restored and funded for future generations, with Okken keen to ensure recognition for the pier’s unique contribution to the town.
“When completing it, please tell the Council what YOU would like to see happen at North Pier,” said a spokesperson. “Ideas might include: reinstating the historic jetty and celebrating the Pier’s maritime heritage; restoring and investing in the theatre, protecting its history while creating a fantastic entertainment venue for future generations.”
“Restoring and preserving North Pier’s Victorian architecture and heritage features; investing in the seaward end of the Pier and creating new reasons for visitors to walk the full length of this incredible landmark; [or] supporting live entertainment, music, theatre and traditional seaside culture.”
