‘Vital Stability’: children’s charity Momentum reveals the crucial social impact of MERKUR’s support

Unrestricted funding from MERKUR Casino UK is providing ‘vital stability’ for the children’s charity Momentum. The three-year, £100,000 partnership is helping the organisation to manage a double-digit surge in demand, in the process assisting families to navigate the most difficult and heart-breaking times in their lives.

The significant social impact of industry contributions to the charitable sector has been put into sharp focus following feedback supplied by Momentum, the children’s charity that’s being partnered by MERKUR Casino UK.

Momentum, supports families and children affected by cancer and life-challenging conditions and provides a range of free to access services including essential counselling, creative therapies and respite breaks.

The partnership, which was announced in February 2026, will see MERKUR Casino provide £100,000 of support over a three-year period. The first six-month update (February to July) from the team at Momentum has provided context to the impact of the support which has been described by Annie Hashtari Momentum’s Support Services and Corporate Partnerships Manager as being ‘vital’ to the charity which in 2025 supported more than 2,800 individuals, a year-on-year increase of 10 percent.

Outlining the significance of the partnership she explained: “The support MERKUR provides to Momentum Children’s Charity is unrestricted, making it one of the most valuable forms of funding that a charity can receive.

“It gives Momentum the flexibility to respond to the changing and often complex needs of families, ensuring that support can be directed where it will have the greatest impact.

“This adaptability enables the charity to continue delivering personalised, family-centred care, while also responding to growing demand and emerging priorities. Ultimately, unrestricted funding helps ensure that every family receives the right support, at the right time, in a way that reflects their individual needs and circumstances.”

She added: “While unrestricted funding allows Momentum to direct resources where they will have the greatest impact, to give some context the annual support of £33,000 is sufficient to fund Momentum’s entire professional therapy service for a year, or six months of respite breaks at the charity’s two holiday cabins, assisting more than 50 families or a bereavement support worker for a year, helping around 25 families navigate one of the most difficult and heart-breaking times in their lives.

“There’s no doubt that MERKUR’s three-year partnership provides vital stability, enabling us to meet increasing demand while continuing to deliver the long-term support that families rely on.”
